Den Herder Seaworks independently developed an ultra-modern trailing suction hopper dredger, the Spauwer. Delmeco was commissioned by Den Herder to handle the engineering of the dredger’s loading and unloading equipment. This engineering work included designing the installations, creating 3D visualizations, and producing detailed working drawings of the systems.

The scope of work for the mechanical engineering discipline included:

  • Engineering of the suction pipe, including onboard piping

  • Engineering of the gantries for handling the suction pipe

  • Engineering of the silt handling system

  • Engineering of the loading chute

  • Engineering of the discharge crane (grab crane), including force distribution and simulation for the hydraulic system

  • Engineering of the conveyor belts (including shore conveyor)

All installations were integrated and managed by Delmeco in a single complete 3D model.
