Den Herder Seaworks developed an ultra-modern trailing suction hopper dredger, Spauwer, in-house. On behalf of Den Herder, Delmeco carried out the engineering of the loading and unloading equipment for the trailing suction hopper dredger. The engineering scope included the design of the installations, 3D visualisation, and the detailed working drawings of the installations.

For the mechanical engineering discipline, the scope of work included:

  • Engineering of the suction pipe, including onboard piping

  • Engineering of the support frames for handling the suction pipe

  • Engineering of the screening system

  • Engineering of the loading chute

  • Engineering of the unloading crane (grab crane), including force calculations and simulations for the hydraulic system

  • Engineering of the conveyor systems (including the shore conveyor)

All installations were integrated, coordinated and managed by Delmeco in a single overall 3D model.
