Zwanenberg engaged Delmeco Consulting and Engineering Agency for advice and consultancy services in the field of fire safety. Our expertise mainly focuses on sprinkler systems, sprinkler monitoring systems (SMI), fire detection systems, evacuation systems, gaseous fire suppression systems, and fire compartmentation.

Delmeco provided advisory and engineering services for the realisation of a new sprinkler system in building section 02, including the associated water supply (sprinkler tanks, sprinkler pumps, pump room, etc.).

For the fire safety discipline, the scope of work included the following phases and activities:

A: Design phase up to tender readiness

  • Requesting the required input information

  • Reviewing the supplied basis of design document (UPD) through a site walkdown

  • Reviewing the supplied equivalency report through site walkdowns in the building sections

  • One-time coordination meeting with production and the KAM coordinator for the project

  • Inventory and photographic survey through a one-time site walkdown of the building sections

  • Requesting quotations from three contractors

  • Supervising one-time detailed site surveys by three sprinkler system suppliers and answering technical questions

  • Preparing a draft sprinkler specification, including drawings and technical specifications

  • One revision round

  • Submitting the final specification, including drawings and technical specifications

  • Evaluating quotations and preparing a draft award recommendation

  • Discussing the quotations with the three suppliers

  • Preparing and discussing a draft investment proposal

  • One revision round

  • Submitting the final investment proposal

B: Tendering phase

  • Collecting additional information

  • Discussing the starting points of the final award recommendation and investment estimate

  • Further detailing the specification requirements in consultation with the preferred supplier

  • Checking validation of the UPD and coordinating remaining alignment and decision items with Zwanenberg

  • One revision round

  • Final quotation and support during the tendering process

C: Execution phase

  • Kick-off of the execution phase, including coordination with production

  • Supporting the permit application with the municipality for the water supply

  • Supporting a one-time update of the sprinkler UPD

  • Reviewing design drawings and calculations

  • Construction supervision

  • Construction supervision during the summer shutdown

  • Initial handover through a one-time site inspection

  • Preparing a punch list based on the inspection

  • One-time review of submitted specifications and documentation

  • Final handover based on the completed punch list and handover dossier

Delmeco’s responsibility within this project covered the entire process from the design phase through to tender readiness, as well as project management of the execution phase up to and including final handover.
