Project information

Project description:

The controls of the concrete distribution belt were fitted with a PC card with remote IO. To increase the reliability of the installation, it was decided to replace these controls with a Siemens S7-1500 PLC with multiple remote IO stations and Human Machine Interface (HMI).

It was also decided to take another look at the machine’s operation. A new functional design was made for this and with this design as a basis, the operation of the machine was unambiguously recorded. A new PLC programme was written with the functional design as a basis.

Because production relies on the availability of the distribution belt, the aim was to realise the migration in the installation’s shortest possible down-time. Delmeco succeeded in replacing the control’s hardware, testing it completely and reactivating it to the customer’s satisfaction within the timeframe agreed upon.

The assignment comprised the following works for the disciplines of automation and electrical engineering:

  • Making a functional design;
  • Writing a new PLC programme;
  • Exchanging control hardware (PLC and Remote I/O);
  • Programming and testing new Siemens PLC and HMI;
  • Activating;
  • Testing;

For this project, it was Delmeco’s responsibility to convert, implement and test the new controls and deliver them in working order.
